Summer will be great.

  • Mood: Excited!!
  • Word of the Day: :: squee! ::
  • Link of the Day: This or this. Can't decide!
  • Currently Reading: Deep Wizardry - Diane Duane
Yes oh yes, this summer is going to rule, if all goes as planned. Three things dominate the coming summer season (and it's only February, haha): camping trip, wedding, convention.

I dunno how many people get excited over camping trips, but eh. I went camping several times a summer, every year, for my whole life up until high school. Then camping happened occasionally - and I went nowhere last year. Boo.
But this year me and Wesley are planning to gather as many people as possible and take over a group site at either Algonquin or Bruce Peninsula - both pretty far away, but we're not going back to Balsam Lake. Sure it's nice, but the group campsites have strict noise policies and forbid alcohol. Screw them, we're drinking ourselves stupid every night. The last trip we organized turned out to be pretty fun, and there were only five of us(plus we were underage for drinking, wah). We figure with a whole bunch of people, all 19 and above, in a group campsite, we'll have a blast. W00tness to the max.
I've been comparing prices already - I can't help it, all jazzed up for the summer.

Wedding!
Courtney and Sheldon are getting married (in August, I believe). Ohshit, must find out if it's the BEGINNING of August - if it takes place anywhere around the 26th - 28th, I have to convince her to move it. See my next point for reasons.
But yeah. As maid of honour, I have to try and put together a bachelorette party - I originally thought we could all go to a strip club... but a couple of the girls aren't 19 yet, so screw that idea. And I'm not hiring a stripper. We'll just all party at my house or something. I 'll figure it out. I also have to write a speech for the thing after the wedding (yikes), and find a way to make fun of Courtney that will make everyone laugh. She knows what I'm talking about. >=D
And dammit I have to go get another job - Courtney wants to go bridesmaid-dress shopping (like I need another dress, three is good enough), and the money I have is for college. Oh, and I might have some money coming at me soon. We'll see.

And the final event of the summer: CN Expo!!
Not only am I going, I will be sharing a table with Van of White Hydra Comics. Tables are apparently somewhere around $140, so it'll be nice to split. And I was only planning on going for a day, to hang out. So much for that.
Well, if you get a table, that means you're going to sit there all day and try to sell things. Obviously I need things to sell!
I've come up with a list of possibilities:
 - art prints (either on regular or glossy paper, each stuck in those nice plastic cover thingies)
 - figurines (Turkishes, dragons, whatever else I can make. Maybe a Frog)
 - comic book (thank you comiXpress)
 - chocolates
I'll probably also be handing out little business card-ish things, for quick & free advertising.
Art Prints - those are pretty much standard; you'll see them at just about every table - after all, they don't call it Artist's Alley without reason. I bought one last year - and, as many people have heard me cry, I should have bought the other one I was looking at. Chris did, and he laughs at me for it :'(
Figurines - Everyone saw the Turkish Model, right? I was thinking of making a few more of those to sell. Turkish because he's easy now that I've got the hang of him, and probably a dragon or two, just because people really seem to like dragons (I'm looking at you, Courtney ). Even people who aren't interested in the comic might pick up a neat-looking little figurine.
Comic book - Yes, I am planning to follow up on that idea. It won't be anything new and exciting; more like a recap of the webcomic - as much of it as I can fit into 60 pages, anyway. But the art will be better, there will be some extra stuff in the storylines, and (because it's going to be in greyscale), everything will be shaded. Nicely. Because I'm not paying extra to print a colour comic that might not sell very well at all.
Chocolates - Yes, you heard me. This came up when I was telling Dad and James about my getting a table at the convention. James meant it as a joke - but I took it seriously. It can be done. Van referred me to some stuff that can make it work - air-hardening clay. Make a little Turkish figurine, push it into the clay, let the clay harden. Put saranwrap over it, pour in some kind of air-hardening chocolate or whatever (I'll find something!), and voila! Turkish chocolates. I could probably make a few larger ones and put sticks in them before they harden, for Turkish-on-a-stick! Mmm. I figure, if nothing else, the chocolate will bring people to our table, maybe get them interested long enough to see what we've got and maybe buy something else, or at least pick up our cards.
One other thing about the convention - all the Ontario 'Spacers are planning a get-together, finally. One thing led to another and everyone decided that the get-together should take place at a con. And since Ghastly frightened us away from Anime North, we picked CN Expo. So we'll see how many 'Spacers show up, and all go out for drinks or dinner or something.

Damn, I really am going to need a job to pay for all the crap I'm planning this summer.
But it will so be worth it.
This summer is going to be so much fun - parties all around, and no kidding. Camping trips and weddings and conventions, oh my!
w00tness almighty.
I can't wait.
I have literally been wriggling in excitement all day.
Okay, I have class in six hours, so I have to get to bed. Night all!
