why am I posting?

  • Mood: Frustrated, listless
  • Word of the Day: BUTTERCAT
  • Link of the Day: End of Things
  • Currently Reading: Nothing! And it will stay that way until I graduate.
Ah, the craziness of crunch time sinks in. I have about six days to finish everything, and I'm sure I'll have reduced myself to raging incoherent curses by about Tuesday.

My portfolio presentation is 3PM on Thursday the 27th. If I kick myself into submission now, I just may get everything done. I fully expect to be awake from about Sunday afternoon to Wednesday at some time. I will sleep until about noon on Thursday and instruct several people to wake me (violently if need be) if I'm not out of bed by half past noon - there is NO WAY I am simply missing this presentation.
I'm not afraid of the actual presentation - I haven't feared presenting since our presentations class two years ago. I can wing it if need be (I did last year), but this year I am making an almost-script. Steve has forewarned us that it's best if we take charge and don't give the panel ANY chance to interrupt. And I have a feeling once Wade starts talking and poking at the crappy bits of my portfolio, I'll never get back the thread of my presentation.
So. I must silence them as much as possible.
I am hoping the Buttercats will made Linda explode. I'm definitely showing the cartoon last - it's the best thing I've done all year. And not just because I've churned out absolute crap this year (because I have), but because the Buttercats seem to get people genuinely interested. I went forth to create a mind-numbingly cute creature (reminiscent of some of the horribly adorable pokemon - I hate them so much, but they get points for cuteness) and I seem to have succeeded. I already have a few people demanding plushies, and I've made some clay models for a couple people.

Buttercat merchandise will definitely be on my table at the Expo. Like Turkish, buttercats don't need any sort of backstory or context to make them cute, apparently. It will be interesting to see which outsells which.

Okay, well I have to go. I'm feeling horribly uninspired (I've felt so BLAH all year) and I think maybe a nap might cure that.
I hope such a thing will work. I don't plan on going to class tomorrow - no point - so I will fill tomorrow with work the way I didn't today. Stupid weather being so nice - plus I had a dentist appointment at like two, which made me go outside (had to bike there) and realize how nice it would be to read a book on the front steps for an hour... or three.
On a happier note, though, I finished the goddamn Robin Hobb series. If I stay away from books in the next six days, I should do fine. I will pretend that I am NOT also in the middle of a Tad Williams series, because I don't have the last two books of Otherland and I have no intention of venturing into the library to find them.
And I don't have the money to go wandering on amazon.ca either - I shouldn't even have bought Fool's Fate, but I hate having all but one book of a series - especially a large one. Now I have them all, and can be content.
Until the next Joe Cat book comes out, and then I will explode and search for excuses to buy it. Or until I remember which books I still need for my Laurell K Hamilton collection.

GAH!
So many books, so little money. But one day... I will own them all. ALL.

Uh... yeah. I'm gonna go for real now. Wish me luck in keeping focused!
