Ugh.
Just... ugh.

Well, computer's been in the shop basically since I moved here. So... like, two months of stealing and hogging Courtney's computer, mourning the loss of certain games and programs and functions and settings, so on and so forth.
Well the guys from the shop sent the computer back, saying "aw all you need to do is reinstall windows, you're fine. I'd do it but I don't have the CD on me at the moment."
Kay, uhm, that wasn't the problem.
At all.
So we brought it back and I made them actually poke at it and they realized there were much larger problems. My computer can't find important windows files because IT CAN'T FIND THE DAMN HARD DRIVE. No mass storage devices my ass, I even switched SATA ports and it still won't work.
And the damn hard drive works - I even plugged it into Courtney's comp to make sure.

Bah, whatever. If the problem is what we think it is (motherboard needs to reinstall drivers for whatever reason), then they should have it fixed and I should get it back by Monday.
If the problem is what we FEAR it is (motherboard is FUCKED, need a new one), gods know when I'll get it back to working status. I'll just need a new motherboard, basically, and they're not too expensive, really. I mean hell I paid about $150, no more than $200 for the tower (power supply, case, motherboard). I've been seeing motherboards on TigerDirect for more than that, but I'll be damned if I'm going to pay that much. I have to find that ziploc bag with all my computer stuff in it so I can figure out the specs of the motherboard I have now, and get one similar (if not identical) to it.

Uhm, so comics will be delayed until I get my comp back. I can still get them up and stuff, but no colour, no real digital edits or whatever. No site work, basically.
But soon as I get it back I'm going insane with stuff.
I have lots of past comics to colour, plenty of fanart to do, some Q&A comics to get done, and some secret comic stuff for a certain person who will be DELIGHTED to get artwork from me. >_>

AUGH THERE IS AN INVISIBLE AD ON THIS PAGE.
I clicked on nothingness and a popup ad sprang up. Teh fsck.

Okay I'm gonna go. I'll leave you with this funky marker image and be on my way.

KEENCONDOS!

KeenCondos? Damn right.
Someday...

if you have access to another computer to test parts with, try putting a known working hard drive in your "broken" computer, if it works theres a possible chance that your "broken" drive has a messed up master boot record (MBR)
Apparently NTLDR has some file that it writes info to and after a couple years the part of it that tells where the boot ini is gets written out of the file. its a pain in the ass to say the least, but it happened to me on both of my xp machines around the same time, incidentally they were created @ the same time too.. just a thought, youd have to ask someone that could actually see the errors to find out more. hope it helps.. great comic :)
